Alfred Moore

Alfred Moore was convicted for the murder of Duncan A Fraser 46 and Arthur Jagger 44 who were shot at Whinney Close Farm, Kirkheaton, Huddersfield on 15 July 1951.

Police beleived that Alfred Moore was responsible for a string of burglaries and were staking out his farm in the hope that they would be able to catch him returning from a burglary red handed.

However, two policemen were shot when they challenged a man as he approached the farmhouse. they were shot with a pistol. Three hours later Alfred Moore was arrested in his farm but a pistol was never found.

One theory is that the killer ran off.

Arthur Jagger was wounded and died shortly after but before he died he formally identified Alfred Moore as the gun man.

In 2011 a university professor said that because Arthur Jagger had recieved anasthetics beforehand for emergency medial operations he would not have been capable of identifying anyone with any confididence.
